Devices that run 24/7 are always worth checking, since they consume a lot over time, one watt at a time!

My router is technicolor from Plusnet, just like this one. I plugged it to the greenenergy monitor and found that my router is using 5 Watts an hour. It's on all the time, so I guess in total it'll be using 0.12 kWh per day.

Is this good? does your wifi router consume a lot less than mine?

I have a standard Virgin Media Super Hub which I monitored for 24 hours. It consumed 0.24kWh (for a cost 0.05GBP/day according to my tariff).

Having just moved my Green Energy monitor to check my setup. My Router/WiFi unit consumes 10 Watts. As I have Fibre to the Cabinet service there is also a FTTC Modem consuming 5 Watts. It all adds up. But you have to keep them all on as the Smart home needs to talk to the world 24/7. Just unplugging my Router to check its consumption caused an email to be sent by my ISP to say my line was down.
