I just bought a new vacuum cleaner and I was curious to compare it with the old one. I used both for three minutes each and the results are as follow:

- old vacuum cleaner: Electrolux Cyclone Power 2000W. I do not know the class of energy. My smart plug measured a consumption of 0.090 kW (for 3 minutes)

- new vacuum cleaner: Vax Power 850W. Class of Energy A (28 kWh/annum). The smart plug measured 0.040 kW (for 3 minutes).

Around 0.030 kW/minutes against circa 0.013 kW/minute!

Hi Watt,

It seems to me that the new vacuum cleaner is more efficient in respect to the other. I compared how the two machines clean hair on the carpet. The old one was clumping the hair on the brush bar and to suck it I had to remove it from the brushes manually. With the new one, I just pass the vacuum cleaner and the hair are gone. Probably, the more efficient system of brushes allows to clean efficiently with less power. Anyway, the result is having less hassle and a cleaned carpet.

hi Patrizia,

That's interesting! The consumption of mine Cyclone was similar, got 0.073 kW for 3 minutes - but it is a 1800W one.

But do you feel the new vacuum cleaner (850W) is as efficient as the previous one for cleaning (especially carpets)?
